Kamehameha edges Maryknoll in ILH baseball opener

Ryson Mauricio scored on a throwing error by the catcher in the bottom of the 11th inning to give Kamehameha a 5-4 Interscholastic League of Honolulu season-opening baseball win over Maryknoll at Ala Wai Field yesterday.

Kamehameha rallied twice to avoid a loss. In the bottom of the seventh, the Warriors scored three runs and scored again in the bottom of the 10th to tie the game at 4.

• Damien 5, Iolani 3: Freshman Dustin Cuizon pitched a complete game, striking out three and walking none to lift the Monarchs to an ILH season-opening win at Iolani.

Ranson DeCosta went 2 for 3 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs.

Kuroda struck out seven batters and walked two.

Edwin Apostol spaced six hits over seven innings for the win. Saint Louis had 10 hits off Punahou pitching.

• Baldwin 10, Ka'ahumanu Hou 0: Jeffery Kajiwara pitched a one-hitter, striking out six and walking one for Baldwin at Iron Maehara Stadium.

Kimo Klask and Aaron Jojo each had three hits for the undefeated Bears (5-0), who are a half-game ahead of Lahainaluna and Moloka'i, both 4-0.

• Maui High 10, Seabury Hall 0: Kalaika Kaho'ohalahala pitched a two-hitter to lead Maui past Seabury Hall in a Maui Interscholastic League baseball game at Iron Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

Kaho'ohalala struck out three and walked none in the game shortened to five innings by the league's 10-run rule.

Maui sent nine batters to the plate in a six-run first inning.

• Lahainaluna 14, King Kekaulike 9: Josh Wallace's bases-clearing triple in an eight-run sixth inning lead the Lunas at Iron Maehara Stadium.

Wallace's triple gave undefeated Lahainaluna 10-9 lead.

• Moloka'i 6, St. Anthony 3: No details reported.



ILH BASKETBALL

• Punahou 63, Sacred Hearts 41: Shanna-Lei Dacanay led all scorers with 24 points and the defending state champion Buffanblu routed the Lancers in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu varsity Division I game.

Christine Takara added 10 for Punahou, who led 35-19 at halftime.
