Advertiser Staff

Jason Carter scored 21 points and Jeff Blackett added 17 to lift the University of Hawai'i into the quarterfinals of the National Invitiation Tournament with a 84-83 men's basketball victory over Nebraska at the Stan Sheriff Center tonight.

Hawai'i (21-11) plays at Michigan on Wednesday. Nebraska finished 18-13.

A sellout crowd at the Stan Sheriff Center, capacity 10,300, watched the Rainbow Warriors take a 49-32 lead at halftime, only to see it dwindle when Nebraska's Brian Conklin hit five consecutive 3-pointers early in the second half. Conklin finished with 24 points.

Carter finished 7 of 8 from the field; Blackett was 7 of 9.
