Advertiser Staff

A woman and young child suffered smoke inhalation from a fire today damaged their three-bedroom apartment unit at a Halawa public housing complex near Aloha Stadium.

Emergency Medical Services took the woman and child to Straub Hospital & Clinic in serious condition.

Firefighters responded to a 12:22 p.m. alarm at 99-129 Kohomua St. and reported the fire under control at 12:33 p.m., said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Emmit Kane.

The fire was contained to an upstairs bedroom unit, Kane said. Two adults, including the woman, and two children, ages 4 and 2, were in the unit, said Kane.
