Tonight's Must-See
"Kathy Griffin: The D-List," 7, 11 p.m., Bravo. Here is storytelling at its finest. In this one-woman comedy show, Griffin takes brief celebrity encounters and describes them with zeal. There was her guest spot on "Hollywood Squares." That becomes a hilarious portrait of Little Richard and Anna Nicole Smith, with a few moments tossed in from Triumph the Insult Dog. There was an upscale charity event: Griffin was urged by Rosie O'Donnell to satirize the group's patroness, Sharon Stone. It was like being back in parochial school, she says, with the coolest kid telling her to mock the nuns. Some of this is mean-spirited and all of it is hilarious.
"The West Wing," 8 p.m., NBC. A new episode. A conservative Supreme Court justice has died, giving Bartlet a rare chance to appoint a liberal. One choice (played by Glenn Close) seems unlikely to get approved, but Josh has a scheme.
Of Note
"A Boy's Life," 5:30 p.m., HBO. Rory Kennedy (the youngest daughter of Robert and Ethel) made this unsettling documentary in rural Mississippi. The viewer quickly sympathizes with a 7-year-old boy who is solid at school and skittish when home with his young mother or controlling grandmother.
"Survivor: All-Stars," 7 p.m., CBS. This is the second of two weeks in which "Survivor" airs on a Wednesday.
"American Idol," 7:30 p.m., Fox. In this half-hour, TV's three reality giants "Idol," "Survivor" and "Apprentice" collide. Last week, Leah LaBelle got the boot. Tonight, a second contestant is ousted.
"The O.C.," 8 p.m., Fox. Returning from several weeks off, this show casts Colin Hanks (Tom's son). He starred in the movie "Orange County." Now he visits "O.C.," playing the star of a popular teen drama series. Paris Hilton also makes an appearance.
