BYUH's Chrisman third-team All-American in basketball

Brigham Young-Hawai'i junior forward Jake Chrisman earned Daktronics NCAA II Third Team All-America basketball honors yesterday and became one of only three juniors honored this season.

The award is voted on by the nation's College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Chrisman became just the fourth player in BYUH history to average more than 20 points per game as he led the Pacific West Conference and was eighth nationally with a 23.3 average during the season and playoffs.

BASEBALL

• HPU wins sixth straight: Right-hander Mike Pelsnik earned his first career complete game victory, pitching a five-hitter with five strikeouts as Hawai'i Pacific beat Cal State Dominguez Hills, 7-4, yesterday at Aloha Stadium.

Ikaika DuPont hit a three-run homer and Billy Wright batted 3 for 3 and drove in a run to help HPU (14-15) win its sixth in a row.

Daniel Pilimai batted 3 for 4 for Dominguez Hills (9-28).



GOLF

• Kodama carries UH men: Matt Kodama shot a 1-under-par 69 yesterday as the University of Hawai'i compiled the top score of the final round only to finish 14th among 15 teams in the 58th Western Intercollegiate at Santa Cruz, Calif.

UH shot 3-over 283 to finish at 893. Colorado won with 852, two strokes ahead of California.

Kodama, who was tied for 20th entering the day, finished in a tie for seventh at 2-over 212.

Colorado's Kane Webber won with 68—206, beating Bret Lederer of Long Beach State by one stroke.



WATER POLO

• UH women take two: The University of Hawai'i women's team ran its winning streak to five by defeating Brazil, 17-4, and New Zealand I, 8-6, in exhibition matches yesterday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

Tracy Andersen and Colleen Schiman each scored four goals against Brazil while Makana Whitford scored three goals against New Zealand I.

UH will host 10th-ranked UC Santa Barbara tomorrow.



TENNIS

• UH men triumph: The University of Hawai'i men's team beat Westmont (Calif.) College, 5-2, yesterday to conclude its four-match road trip with a 3-1 record.
