Downed pole closes highway near Whitmore

No one was injured in the accident, which occurred at 2:43 p.m. at Kamehameha Highway and Whitmore Avenue.
There were no reports of power outages, but police were forced to close the highway to allow Hawaiian Electric Co. crews to replace the pole. HECO spokesman Bruce Benson said he did not know how long the work would take or how long the road would be closed.
