UH softball splits at Stanford Classic

In the second game, UH's Melissa Coogan pitched a three-hitter. Ashley Ruff and Justina Kahaku each had a triple for the Rainbow Wahine (18-18).
The Cougars' Niki Andersen gave up four singles to earn the win in the first game. Iolani School alum Ianeta Lei went 2 for 3 as did Baldwin alum Ashlyn Russell for BYU.
MORE SOFTBALL
BYUH, HPU rained out: A doubleheader yesterday between Brigham Young-Hawai'i and Hawai'i Pacific was postponed because of rain and poor field conditions.
BASEBALL
HPU splits again: For the second consecutive day, the Hawai'i Pacific University baseball team split a doubleheader with Cal Poly Ponoma at the Broncos' field.
The Sea Warriors held off a seventh-inning rally by Cal Poly Pomona to win the first game, 7-6. Geoffrey Say had a triple and scored twice for HPU (16-17). Luis Carreras gave up two runs over 5áÊinnings en route to his second win of the season.
In the second game, Jarrod Allen's two-run home run in the first inning carried the Broncos (18-12-2) to a 6-2 win.
WATER POLO
Hawai'i downs Japan Junior team: Beth Novick scored three goals, and Makana Whitford and Darcy Scott-Hosaka had two each to lead the Hawai'i women's water polo team past the Japan junior team, 9-3, yesterday in the Rainbow Classic at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Amber Lumb had seven saves for the Rainbow Wahine.
Hawai'i takes on Quebec today at 9:30 a.m. in the final day of the tournament.
GOLF
Rainbow Wahine 10th in Tucson: Led by Sara Odelius' second-round score of 72, the University of Hawai'i women's golf team is in 10th place at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
Odelius is tied with five others for eighth place at 2-over par, while the Rainbow Wahine are 15 strokes behind first-place Denver.
Washington State's Kim Welch is alone atop the leaderboard at 3-under 141.
SWIMMING & DIVING
UH men 25th at NCAAs: The University of Hawai'i men's swimming and diving team finished 25th at the NCAA Championships yesterday at Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
UH's Kurt Boehm finished 13th in the 200-meter butterfly yesterday and Cheyne Bloch was 15th in the 200-meter breaststroke. Both swimmers earned honorable mention All-America honors in their events.
Auburn won the team title with 634 points. Hawai'i finished with 20.
MEETING
QB Club: A retirement luncheon for former University of Hawai'i women's basketball coach Vince Goo will be held at the Honolulu Quarterback Club tomorrow.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program at noon at the Pagoda Restaurant.
Fans and his former players will be on hand to speak.
Goo retired this past season after 17 seasons as head coach of the Rainbow Wahine.
