Carlsen WAC pitcher of the week

Advertiser Staff

Clary Carlsen’s first career complete game for the University of Hawai'i baseball team earned him Western Athletic Conference pitcher of the week honors, the conference announced on its website today.

Carlsen, a senior form Poulsbo, Wash., pitched a complete game six-hitter in the Rainbows’ 8-1 victory over Louisiana Tech Saturday as UH took the series two games to one.

He allowed one unearned run while striking out four and not allowing a bases on balls.

Rice outfielder Lance Pendleton was named the player of the week for going 8-of-14 with four runs and nine runs batted in for the Owls.

Carlsen is the second UH pitcher to be honored by the conference this season. Ricky Bauer was named WAC pitcher of the week last month.
