• Finance Factors has promoted two employees to the position of executive vice president, including RANDALL KAWANO, who will also carry the title of chief financial officer. In his new position, Kawano, who joined Finance Factors in 2000 as senior vice president and chief financial officer, will oversee the Financial Administration, Information Technology and Information Protection departments, as well as direct the company's treasury, budgeting, audit, tax and accounting functions.

Also promoted was DAVID KAMIMURA, who was named chief credit officer. Kamimura, a 17-year bank veteran, has served in various management positions relating to the company's loan operations. In his new position, he will continue to manage Finance Factors' loan portfolio and oversee the commercial lending, mortgage servicing, collections, construction lending, credit administration and loan administration activities of the company.

SOREN BURKHART, who joined Aloha Airlines last year as the company began a comprehensive effort to upgrade its technology, has been promoted to senior vice president-Business and Technology Integration, and chief information officer. With the promotion, he will be in charge of all aspects of Aloha's technology integration and information systems. Before joining the company, Burkhart was president and founder of Burkhart Technology Solutions software firm, and was a co-founder and managing director of Hawaii Business Consulting.

• Architect DENISE F. YOSHIMORI-YAMAMOTO has been promoted to senior associate, responsible for Honolulu projects and operations, at GYA Architects Inc. She is project architect for the third phase of the Kalihi Valley Homes renovations, the projects at Maui Community College, Building Q, and Hana Community Health Center, both on Maui.

• Two Maui natives have been promoted at Nishikawa Architects Inc. DURWIN KIYABU, who joined the firm in 1998 as project architect, has been named a principal in the company, responsible for overseeing the company's design team. JOHN MORGAN GERDEL, who joined Nishikawa in 2000 and served as project manager at a number of residential and commercial project, has been promoted to firm associate.
