Buddhists will float lanterns
Thousands of lighted candles contained in paper lanterns will be set afloat during the Shinnyo-en Hawaii's sixth annual lantern floating ceremony on Magic Island at 6 p.m. Memorial Day.
Called Toro Nagashi, the lantern floating Buddhist ceremony is practiced throughout Japan as a way to express respect for ancestors and comfort the spirits of the deceased.
Shuttles will operate from Ala Moana Center.
