Man escapes from Big Island prison

Big Island police yesterday were looking for a 41-year-old inmate who escaped from the minimum-security Hale Nani Correction Facility in Hilo.

Blaine K. Faris left the facility between 8 and 9 p.m. on Thursday. Corrections officers discovered him missing at the 9 p.m. bed check.

Faris is 5-feet-11 and about 250 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.
