Best in show
The Hawai'i film office used a surfing motif, with borrowed surfboards from Mainland Local Motion outlets, to snag the grand prize for best booth at the recent locations trade show sponsored by the Association of Film Commissioners International at the Santa Monica Convention Center.
Marilyn Killeri, Big Island film commissioner, was among the delegates and said the surf booth, laden with posters from surfing films, earned the show's blue-ribbon laurels "and bragging rights."
Reyn's provided surf-themed shirts for the local delegation, and booth visitors were able to sign up for a free shirt in a giveaway.
Also attending: Tiffani Lizama, Kaua'i commissioner; Benita Brazier, Maui commissioner; and Donne Dawson, manager of the Hawai'i Film Office.
The trade show generally draws locations managers, but some studio execs showed up this year.
