Tonight's Must-See
"Moving Image Salute to Richard Gere," 10 p.m., USA Network. This is the 19th year for this event (a fund-raiser for the American Museum of the Moving Image), but the first time it's been on TV. Queen Latifah and Diane Lane from Richard Gere's recent films "Chicago" and "Unfaithful," respectively will be there to honor him. So will Denzel Washington, Winona Ryder, Sharon Stone and Louis Gossett Jr. Expect lots of clips ("An Officer and a Gentleman," "Pretty Woman," etc.) and discussion of an interesting life. Gere lives in New York with his wife (former "Law & Order" star Carey Lowell) and son. He's been a longtime advocate for Tibet and its exiled Dalai Lama. "Hannibal" (2001), 7 p.m., CBS. Lots of big-deal talent joined this "Silence of the Lambs" sequel. David Mamet co-wrote it and Ridley Scott ("Alien," "Thelma & Louise") directed. Anthony Hopkins returns to his role as a classy cannibal.
Julianne Moore takes over the Jodie Foster role as the FBI agent in pursuit.
Of Note
"Chappelle's Show," 6 p.m., Comedy Central. Dave Chappelle's show stuffed with barbed, satirical films has started to draw a buzz. It has finished the season, but here are eight straight reruns. Since "Saturday Night Live" also is a rerun (details pending) this might be the time to give Chappelle a chance. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., ABC. Usually ABC offers "Wonderful World of Disney" films on Saturdays. Now, alas, it scuttles that for a couple of reality reruns. One shows the remodeling of a home that was battered by a drunken driver; the next gives the crew one day to fix a house.
"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. On a rape arrest, cops find a murdered teenager. Their search soon widens.
