THE LEFT LANE
That Hale'iwa hottie

Advertiser Staff and News Services

"American Idol" sensation Jasmine Trias isn't the only Hawai'i teen in need of your votes.

Meet TJ Barron, 18, of Hale'iwa, a contender for YM magazine's Last Boy Standing title.

We first introduced you to Barron in January, when he was one of 12 finalists from across the United States and Canada. Now the competition is down to seven hotties, all featured in the June 2004 issue.

YM readers can learn about their favorite guy each month, then vote online to keep him for the next issue. The last boy standing will be named in the December 2004 issue and win a $10,000 scholarship. To keep TJ around, vote for him at ym.com/lastboy.

A rainbow of flicks

Different name, same mission: The 15th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (formerly the Adam Baran Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Film Festival), will run May 27 to 30 at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. It continues to showcase films about gay and lesbian lifestyles.

"Revolution," a documentary featuring comic Margaret Cho, will be the opening night attraction. Other audience favorites could be "A Touch of Pink," starring Kyle MacLachlan and a hit at this year's Sundance Film Festival, as well as "Eating Out," an award-winning film. The cast from "Eating Out" will appear with producers at a reception at 5:30 p.m. May 29 at the art museum's Henry R. Luce Pavilion. Tickets are $25, include the party and the film, and are available at www.hglcf.org.

Kamen Rider returns

Anyone remember Kamen Rider V-3? Back in the mid-1970s, the homely Japanese TV superhero wowed a young audience already hooked on cyborg savior Kikaida.

Stoked by the success of its recent "Kikaida" and "Kikaida 0-1" reruns, JN Productions is bringing back all 52 episodes of "Kamen Rider V3" on Sundays, starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, on Channel 78 Hawaii. See www.generationkikaida.com.
