Advertiser Staff and News Services

Pukona Films, a local independent film production company, is searching for actors and production assistants for a four-day shoot on the Wai'anae Coast, for a project called "Ka 'Upena Kiloi."

Résumés, bios and photos should be e-mailed to hulagirlpictures@aol.com by May 24. Applicants must plan to camp for the four-day shoot. For more information, call 946-9088.

Pukona Films is a busy operation. Its Web site, www.pukonafilms.com, lists five titles as being in the pre-production phase: "Kissing God," a family drama involving a father and son; "I Am a Straight Filmmaker Working in a Gay Bathhouse," a peek at the workings of a gay bathhouse; "Lost Paradise — the 50th State," a tale about a lost Hawaiian tiki, later found — with links to murder and drugs; "To Kiss and Tell," about a parolee dodging his parole officer; and "A Legacy," dealing with a Samoan woman who examines her violent family history.

Adieu — on disc

Couldn't make it home in time to watch the "Friends" finale last week? Don't fret. More than 50 million viewers saw the six New York buddies bid farewell to fans, and you can see it, too. Warner Home Video today will release "Friends: The Series Finale," a limited-edition DVD. It will be available at stores for about $14.99, and includes the broadcast version of the two-part episode, the DVD version of the finale with added never-before-seen footage, and other bonus features.

Touch of the positive

Those interested in finding out about the healing touch can do so Saturday, when Honolulu spiritual teacher Sensei Seichi Tabata will explain what "ki" is all about at a workshop sponsored by the Honolulu Ki Society. Tabata will talk about the art of kiatsu, a relaxation therapy based on the idea of pressing with positive energy, or ki.

The workshop will be from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Honolulu Ki Society Seishinkan Dojo, 2003 Nu'uanu Ave. A $20 donation is suggested. To register, call 591-6514.
