• A U.S. Geological Survey inspection team that assessed Sacred Falls after the 1999 landslide described the landslide, discussed possible causes and assessed ongoing landslide hazards in the canyon. The inspection team did not issue a recommendation and said at the time it would be up to the state to decide whether the park should be permanently closed. A Local News story posted Sunday contained incorrect information.
