Club shooting leaves two critical

Two people were critically injured last night after a man apparently shot a woman and then himself in a Kaka'ako nightclub, police said.

The 46-year-old woman was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition with a head wound. She was in cardiac arrest when she arrived at the hospital, and then was revived, an EMS spokeswoman said.

The man was taken to Straub Clinic and Hospital, also in critical condition from a gunshot wound.

Police said the shooting occurred at about 9:30 p.m. in Club Queen Bee at the corner of Queen and Cooke streets. The bar was formerly known as Club Yokohama.

Aki jury remains in deliberations

The jury in the Christopher Aki murder trial went home again yesterday without reaching a verdict and is scheduled to resume deliberations at 9:30 this morning. The case was turned over to the jury of seven men and five women one week ago.

Aki, 21, is accused of beating 11-year-old Kahealani "Kahea" Indreginal to death in December 2002. He contends the girl was actually killed by her uncle.
