The Buzz

Advertiser Staff

• Classic rockers: Canned Heat, Vanilla Fudge and Big Brother & the Holding Company, three rock bands from the '60s and '70s, come together for a three-island tour: 7 p.m. June 11 at the Kona Brewing Co.'s Brewhouse Oasis in Kona ($30 advance, $40 at the gate); 7 p.m. June 12 at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua ($30 advance, $40 at the door); and 7 p.m. June 13 at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu ($35 advance reserved, $40 day of the show). Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

• Ogre-sized: As part of a "Shrek 2" promotion, M&M's — the candy that melts in your mouth, not in your hand — is putting out "ogre-sized" morsels 50 percent larger than the traditional size. M&M's Minis, on the other hand, will be more colorful. The movie opens Wednesday.

• Outdoor cinema: The drive-in movie theater, a thing of the past, will make a brief re-appearance May 21 at Maui's Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center. As part of MauiFest Hawai'i, a celebration of art, music, culture and film, the Upcountry Drive-In Movie Theatre will be in operation at Makawao from 7 p.m., featuring three films: Nathan Kurosawa's "The Ride," Kenneth K. Martinez Burgmaier's "Festival of Canoes" and Tom Vendetti's "Fiji Firewalkers." One wrinkle: It's an outdoor viewing (but not in your car), so bring mats or blankets to sit on. Tickets: $15 per car (four adults), $5 each additional adult; free for children 10 and younger.
