Linda Lingle wrote in her May 10 commendation to Goodsill. "You also pioneered the use of tax-exempt bonds for our electric utilities."
Lingle called Goodsill an attorney of "impeccable integrity" who set a high standard for "competence, service and integrity."

Box jellyfish nearly gone from beaches
City lifeguards yesterday found few box jellyfish at Waikiki beaches. "It's 90 percent gone," said Rob Miller of the Ocean Safety Division, of the latest jellyfish influx. He said two jellyfish were found on shore at Kuhio Beach.
On Wednesday, the eighth day after a full moon, lifeguards found more than 1,000 box jellyfish in the same area.
The latest influx began Tuesday. Lifeguards closed the swimming lagoon areas between the Kapahulu groin and Duke Kahanamoku's statue at Kuhio Beach because of a large influx of box jellyfish.
Cancer Society postpones relay
Threatening weather conditions prompted the American Cancer Society to cancel its 24-hour Hawai'i Kai Relay for Life. The relay was to be held at Sandy Beach beginning at 7 last night.
City parks and recreation officials urged the society to cancel it because rain and thundershowers are forecast. The relay will be held from July 23 to July 24.
