Body discovered at La'ie beach

The body of a man wearing a wet suit was found today at a beach in La'ie near the 55-400 block of Kamehameha Highway. Police were notified at about 6 a.m.

A preliminary report indicated no visible signs of foul play, police said.

2 hit by truck; arrest is made

A 40-year-old Kailua-Kona man and his son, 7, who were struck yesterday by a pickup truck while walking along Ali'i Drive, were flown to The Queen’s Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Emil Spencer was listed in critical condition today; The Queen’s Medical Center declined to release information on the child.

A 45-year-old Kailua-Kona man who was driving the 2003 Ford pickup truck that struck the two pedestrians near the intersection of La'aloa Avenue at 12:43 p.m. was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and two counts of causing negligent injury. The driver was in police custody but not charged as of mid-morning today.

Suspect charged with forgery

Police yesterday charged a Nanakuli man with forging a stolen check and trying to cash it at a bank in Wai'anae.

Shawn Kealoha, 25, was arrested Friday at First Hawaiian Bank’s Wai'anae branch at 86-020 Farrington Highway. Kealoha is charged with second-degree forgery and his bail is $30,000.

A police report filed at District Court alleges that Kealoha presented a check made payable to himself for $275, showed a photo identification and endorsed the check for the teller. The check was part of a series reported stolen from a Hale'iwa resident’s mailbox.

Kalihi stabbing leads to arrest

An 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday at his Kalihi residence on suspicion of stabbing another male during an early morning fight on May 8. The victim, 17, of 'Ewa Beach was stabbed twice at Kalakaua Recreation Center at 12:56 a.m.

The Kalihi man was booked on attempted murder and released. The stabbing victim’s condition is not life threatening, police said.

Man charged in sexual assault

A 21-year-old Waialua man was charged Friday with sexually assaulting a juvenile on April 4. Sophorn Vong was arraigned today at District Court on first-degree sex assault and three counts of third-degree sex assault.

The alleged assault occurred in Liliha.
