Tonight's hour-long "American Idol" special, at 7 p.m., will focus on the three remaining finalists: Jasmine Trias, 17; Diana DeGarmo, 16; and Fantasia Barrino, 19.
On tap:
- Host Ryan Seacrest will talk to judges about the highs and lows of the season so far no doubt angling on Trias' survival last week, when LaToya London was bumped off.
- Trias, DeGarmo and Barrino each will perform one song but the judges won't sling mud or toss orchids.
- Freshly shot footage of Trias' whirlwind 24-hour visit to Hawai'i might be seen tonight her airport arrival, her meeting with fanis in Waikiki, her visit with Lt. Gov. Duke Aiona, her reunion with her Maryknoll High School classmates and teachers, her lunch at Ono's, her visit to the Society of Seven Las Vegas show, her dinner at Ruby Tuesday's.
Tomorrow night, it's business as usual. Each contestant will sing three songs: one that they choose, one that's selected by judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, and a third picked by record industry veteran Clive Davis.
