Hawai'i crowns two beauties

Miss Hawai'i USA and Miss Hawai'i Teen USA were crowned last night at a pageant at the Sheraton Waikiki Ballroom.

Jennifer Fairbank, 24, is the new Miss Hawai'i USA. She is a graduate student at Hawai'i Pacific University, studying for a master's in communication. She is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and Punahou School. Her parents are Geraldine and John Fairbank.

Fairbank plans to pursue a career in TV broadcasting.

Miss Hawai'i Teen USA is Sonya Balmores, 17, a senior at Kaua'i High School.

Sonya, a model, also plans to attend HPU and study communication. Her parents are Malana and Ernest DeSilva.
