Tonight's Must-See

"Colonial House" debut, 8 p.m., PBS; then "The Restaurant," 9 p.m., NBC. Among reality shows, these two are opposite extremes. "Colonial House" is PBS and tries to inform; "Restaurant" is NBC and tries to excite. The PBS show has modern people re-create the lives of America's first European settlers. "The Restaurant" focuses on the collision of two co-owners — chef Rocco DiSpirito and money man Jeffrey Chodorow.

Of Note

"American Idol: The Final Three," 7 p.m., Fox. Two weeks after its "Final Five" special, Fox is back to the same well.

"Motown 45," 7 p.m., ABC. Forty-five years after the Motown record label took off, its music still stirs the heart and soul. Here is a special that includes some of the original stars (Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, etc.) and such modern admirers as Macy Gray, Kelly Rowland, Nick Lachey, Wayne Brady and the Backstreet Boys.
