Vendors sought for ho'olaulea
The Windward Ho'olaulea is accepting applications for artisans, crafters and food vendors interested in participating in the event from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 4 at Windward Community College in Kane'ohe.
The crafts booth fee is $150 for a 10-foot by 10-foot space that can be shared with another crafter. The food booth fee is $400.
Application deadline is July 30.

Life-saving demo at mall
The Coast Guard Auxiliary will demonstrate life saving equipment Saturday at the Boat Smart show in Windward Mall.
Kane'ohe Flotilla 14 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will also have life-ring throwing and knot tying contests for kids at the mall's center stage from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The show kicks off National Safe Boating Week.

Saint Louis drill team second
Saint Louis JROTC students Joseph Mark and Rodney Co placed second in the nation at the National Drill Team Championships in Florida. First place in the duet competition went to J.H. Reagan High School from Texas.

Sculpture finalists named
Three artists are finalists in a competition to design a sculpture for the Kilauea Visitor Center in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
Calvin Cook of Na'alehu, Crystal Lockwood of Pahoa and John Matsushita of Kailua-Kona each won $1,000 to help them further develop their designs.
The finalists will present their designs to a Kupuna Committee in August, and the committee will recommend one design to the park service.
The winner will receive a $38,000 commission to create the sculpture.
