Maui Land & Pine invests in Superferry

Maui Land & Pineapple Co. has invested $1 million in Hawaii Superferry Inc., the venture to transport passengers and vehicles between the major islands.MLP President David Cole said the Superferry would support his company’s diversified agricultural operations and "has the potential to dramatically enhance inter-island commerce by providing fast, economical and fuel-efficient ferry service throughout the state."
The service was scheduled to begin operations by 2006, but had lacked enough investors.
