How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Kaua'i hotels recorded an impressive 15 percent increase in occupancy, reaching 80.3 percent for the week ended May 15, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. Average daily rate on Kaua'i also saw a 5.7 percent increase to $174.41. Statewide hotel occupancy rose 7.6 percent to 66.8 percent as statewide visitor arrivals increased by 10.7 percent over prior year. Statewide room rates also improved by 3.4 percent to $154.66. Maui experienced a slight 1.1 percent gain in occupancy to 74.3 percent.
