THE LEFT LANE
Life's the best, man

Advertiser Staff and News Services

So you've got your GQ, Maxim and Sports Illustrated. Now you can add this to your stack of manly bathroom reads: Best Life, from the people behind the popular Men's Health magazine.

Best Life focuses on what it believes matters to men; the launch issue has stories on handmade shirts, cool jazz and hottie Maria Bello.

In that spring/summer issue — which features cool TV dad Peter Gallagher from "The O.C." on the cover — read up on the "10 rules of good fatherhood," learn how to cut your risk for heart attacks by 90 percent, and get an inside look at Germany's secret fight clubs.

The issue is available on newsstands. See www.bestlifeonline.com.

Join the power moms

How can you get back into shape after pregnancy without having to hire a babysitter?

One way is Stroller Strides, a power-walking and body-toning class taught by certified instructors in parks across O'ahu with stroller-pushing moms.

Classes are offered at Central O'ahu Regional Park, Ala Moana's Magic Island, Kapi'olani Park, Kailua Beach and Ko Olina Lagoon 4 at varying times for fees ranging from $4 to $10 a class, depending on how often you go.

For information, visit www.strollerstrides.com, call 371-6904, or e-mail Katey Mobley at katey@strollerstrides.net.

Laughs don't stop

Laughs, gags, cheers and even hisses may be in store at Andy Bumatai's Stand-Up Showcase at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the Palace Showroom of the Ohana Reef Towers Hotel in Waikiki.

Bumatai, who regularly appears with Paul Ogata after Frank DeLima's shows on Fridays and Saturday nights, will host a parade of rising stars from the Island comedy galaxy in this 90-minute laugh-a-thon.

Ogata, Kento, Rufus Demarco, Enrico, Shawn Felipe, Cathy Tanaka, Gerard Elmore, Stan Ige, Brian Lentz and Elroy Entendencia are expected to participate.

Tickets are $10, with a one-drink minimum. Reservations: 923-7469.

When DeLima returns June 4, a comedy triple header with DeLima, Bumatai and Ogata will unfold at 8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
