Break disrupts water service

More than 500 apartment units in Waipahu were without water yesterday because of a water main break near 94-066 Leolua St. The rupture in the 12-inch main was reported at 2:10 a.m. and also affected water service to Waipahu Town Center and Waipahu Shopping Village.

Board of Water Supply spokeswoman Wanda Yamane said water wagons were available in the area.

Repair work forced the closure of Leolua Street between Leoku Street and Kunia Road. The work was expected to be completed sometime late last evening, a Board of Water Supply statement said.
