If it's a long shot, who better to take it than Michael Kuebler?

"I'm not getting my hopes up for anything; I know the situation I'm in."

The former University of Hawai'i basketball standout completed a private workout with the Seattle SuperSonics on Monday, and has at least two other workouts with NBA teams coming up.

"I'm not getting my hopes up for anything; I know the situation I'm in," said Kuebler, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard. "Of course, the draft is in the back of my mind, but my goal, really, is to just get my name out there right now."

The NBA Draft, which consists of two rounds, is scheduled for June 24. Kuebler is not expected to be selected, but he said he would like to receive a free-agent tryout.

"I think I kind of showed up out of nowhere this season," he said. "So I'm just hoping to spark some interest."

Kuebler led the Rainbow Warriors with 18.1 points per game as a senior last season, and set a UH record with 97 3-pointers.

He recently hired Seattle-based agent JR Harris of Marshall Harris Sports Management. NBA players Doug Christie, Anthony Peeler and Cliff Robinson are also represented by the company.

"He has NBA (shooting) range, no doubt about that," Harris said. "He needs to get a little tougher, and work on taking care of the ball a little better. He'll have to learn to play some point guard to give himself a better chance."

Kuebler said he did "pretty good" at the Seattle training facility on Monday. Current SuperSonics Luke Ridnour and Richie Frahm worked with him during the two-hour session.

"It was a lot of drills, mostly," Kuebler said. "A lot of ball-handling and shooting."

Harris said the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers have also requested to see Kuebler in private workouts. Miami and Charlotte have also expressed interest.

"All we want to do is get one team to like him," Harris said.
