Dancers' beloved cat missing

By Wanda Adams
Advertiser Staff Writer

Veteran Honolulu modern dance teachers Betty Jones and Fritz Ludin are in Manhattan, where Betty is teaching a master workshop at the Limon Institute and both are visiting old haunts from the days when they danced with the Jose Limon Dance Co. and first formed their Dances We Dance partnership. They attended a Dance Asia/New York performance, where they caught up with Maui-born dancer and former student John-Mario Sevilla and one-time Halau Na Kamalei member Keo Woodford.

But their hearts are back in Honolulu, and those hearts are heavy.

Their company cat, Twosocks, who was being looked after by a friend, made the great escape from his cat carrier at Wilder and Pensacola Streets the day Betty and Fritz left, and hasn't been seen since.

As Fritz explains it, "Like many dancers, Betty and I are great admirers of cats for their acquired agility and grace of movement ... and he is the greatest DARLING ever."

They think the cat — who is black with a white spot on his chest and two white rear paws — is wandering in Punchbowl, Makiki, even as far as Mo'ili'ili. There's a reward if you find him: Call Joyce, 526-1103.
