MUFI HANNEMANN BASKETBALL JAMBOREE
Hannemann Jamboree showcases top females

The 11th Annual Mufi Hannemann Basketball Jamboree, billed as the state's only postseason showcase of women's and girls basketball, will be held tomorrow at Moanalua High School gym.

The first games start at 9 a.m., with four 12-and-under and eight 14-and-under teams also playing at 9:45 and 10:30. The first high school all-star contests begin at 11:15, with four teams. Games will continue throughout the day, ending with the prep/collegiate championship at 3:15 p.m.

Expected to participate are Jessica Hanato and Hina Kimitete of state champion Konawaena; Latoya Wily, Karla Tailele and Aisha Ale from state runner-up Kahuku; 2003 Advertiser All-State first-team selection Sunshine Misa-Uli of Farrington; Tati Beasley and Shannon Miyashiro of Division II state champion Roosevelt; two-time Maui Interscholastic League Player of the Year Kami Kapaku of Baldwin and many other standouts.

Former University of Hawai'i players Jenny Kaeo, Lynette Liu, Hedy Liu and Kalei Namohala are expected to participate, as is former Punahou standout Kii Spencer-Vasconcellos, who earned third-team NAIA All-America honors for Menlo College this past season.

Coaches are Wendy Anae of Kahuku, Lisa Mann of Kaiser, Daphne Honma of Honoka'a and Fran Villarmia-Kahawai, who coached 'Aiea to the 2001 state title.

There is no admission charge, but donations to the Gender Equity Sports Club will be accepted at the door.

Tournament schedule:

9 a.m. — 12-and-under: Kalakaua vs. Eastsidaz; KAC vs. Kailua Basketball Association;
9:45 a.m. — 14-and-under: Kalakaua No. 1 vs. Lakeside (Na Wahine); KAC vs. Aliamanu Intermediate;
10:30 a.m. — 14-and-under: Kalakaua No. 2 vs. Roosevelt 808; Kahuku Middle School vs. KBA;
11:15 a.m. — Prep/collegiate: Team A vs. Team B; Team C vs. Team D;
Noon — 12-and-under championship;
12:45 p.m. — 14-and-under semifinals;
1:30 p.m. — Prep/collegiate third place game;
2:30 p.m. — 14-and-under championship;
3:15 p.m. — Prep/collegiate championship
