Man arrested for 64th time

A 36-year-old Keolu Hills man, who has 63 prior arrests, was arrested again yesterday on suspicion of stealing a car from a 20-year-old Kaimuki woman.

Police said the woman's neighbor saw a stranger breaking into the woman's white Honda about 4:25 a.m. and watched as he drove off.

The neighbor called police with a description of the car, which was relayed to patrol officers working in the area.

They spotted the Honda speeding on the H-1 Freeway and caught up with it on Wilder Avenue near Oliver Street. One of the officers turned on his flashing lights to signal the Honda to stop. The driver stopped, but got out of the Honda and ran, police said.

They were able to catch and arrest him after a brief foot chase.

Sketch of bank robber released

Police have released a composite sketch of a man who robbed the Kamehameha Shopping Center branch of American Savings Bank last Wednesday.

The robber entered the bank, handed a teller a demand note and walked out with an undisclosed amount of money, police said. He was last seen walking toward Longs Drugs.

The robber is estimated to be in his 20s, about 5 feet 7 and 150 pounds.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call detective James Nobriga directly at 692-4507. Anonymous calls may be made to CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.

Assault, threats prompt arrest

A 22-year-old Kalihi man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of terroristic threatening and abuse of a household member after two confrontations with his former girlfriend.

The girlfriend, 29, told police she was trying to end her relationship with the man, who became angry, beat her and then threatened her with a knife.

The man left the home before officers arrived but came back after they left while the woman was moving out of the apartment and threatened her a second time with a knife, police said.

Officers were sent to the North King Street address a second time, found the ex-boyfriend and arrested him.
