Kamehameha case proceedings moved

Oral arguments set for tomorrow in the federal court case on the Kamehameha Schools' admission policy have been moved from the University of Hawai'i law school because of damage caused by the recent flash flood in Manoa.

Court will convene instead at 9 a.m. in the sixth-floor courtroom at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, 1132 Bishop St., where the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has been hearing cases all week.

Doe v. Kamehameha, the appeal of a suit challenging the schools' policy to show preference for admitting Native Hawaiians, is still the first case of six being heard tomorrow.

Courtroom seating tomorrow will be reserved for attorneys, parties to the case, court staff and news media.

For the general public, there will be an overflow viewing area in another courtroom, Suite 250-L, on the lobby level, with live video.

Also, a prayer service scheduled by the school will take place at 7 a.m. tomorrow at Kawaiaha'o Church.
