HPU volleyball closing in on PacWest title

Nadica Karleusa recorded a match-high 13 kills and Flavia Brakling 12 as the No. 14 Hawai'i Pacific women's volleyball team swept Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 32-30, 30-23, 30-18, in a Pacific West Conference match last night at Blaisdell Arena.
The defending PacWest champion Sea Warriors (17-2 overall, 8-1 PacWest) can clinch the conference title and the automatic NCAA tournament berth by winning their final conference match at Hawai'i-Hilo on Nov. 12.
Beth Robertson and Yu Chuan Weng each had 11 kills for BYUH (10-11, 2-8).
In a non-conference match, Jessica Bratton recorded a match-high 21 kills as Montana State-Billings defeated visiting Hawai'i-Hilo, 30-25, 26-30, 30-20, 30-17, at Alterowitz Gym last night.
Christina Cooley tallied a team-high 14 kills and Shara Parker added 12 kills for Hawai'i-Hilo (4-17, 1-7). Olivia Munro added 19 kills and Cortney Lennan had 10 for Montana State-Billings (14-9, 4-5).

Free Maui hoops clinic: The Chaminade men's basketball team will conduct a free basketball clinic on Nov. 20 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lahainaluna High School. The clinic is open to Maui youths ages 6 to 16.
Coaches and players will work with participants on skills drills, dribbling, passing and shooting. The clinic, which is limited to the first 70 participants, is being held in conjunction with the EA Sports Maui Invitational.
A food drive for the Maui Food Bank will also be held in partnership with the clinic. Clinic participants also are asked to bring canned food contributions. For more information, call Chaminade University communications director Sara Platte at 735-4789.
Audio broadcasts of BYUH sports available: Brigham Young-Hawai'i has signed an agreement with TRZ Sports Services to provide audio broadcasts of Seasider sports. The agreement will allow fans to follow BYU-Hawai'i sports on the Internet or by calling TRZ's Teamline on the telephone. To use the service, fans will need to log on to the BYU-Hawai'i athletic Web site w3.byuh.edu/sports/ and click on "Internet Broadcasts." Doing so will provide access to a page showing the next broadcast event. Clicking on the event will direct the user to the BYU-Hawai'i Teamline page.
