"Two, four, six, eight,

Lori-Ann Amodo made the cover of American Cheerleader.

"Who do we appreciate?"

That's easy. Lori-Ann Amodo, American Cheerleader Magazine's "Cheerleader of the Month." She's on the cover of the magazine's October issue.

Amodo, who is team captain and spirit rouser at Hawai'i Pacific University, "has a lot of heart and dedication," says HPU head cheer coach Matt Parkey. For being the monthly winner, Amodo earns a $1,000 scholarship from Bonne Belle and Soffe sportswear ... and the admiration of her colleagues.

The Moanalua High graduate said she had a tough time becoming a cheerleader in high school. "I wasn't chosen ... but I think God had something better planned," she said. "I got a scholarship to HPU through gymnastics."

This past April and also in 2003, HPU's cheerleading team won the National Cheerleaders Association Chick-fil-A Collegiate Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla. — something to cheer about.
