Farrington group gets help for trip

First Hawaiian Foundation awarded a $2,500 grant to The Farrington High School chapter of the Family Careers and Community Leaders of America. The donation helped make it possible for students to attend the Family Careers and Community Leaders of America national leadership meeting in Chicago in July.


PBS Hawai'i thankful for aid

First Hawaiian Foundation has completed a four-year grant of $75,000 to PBS Hawai'i.

"As a nonprofit public broadcaster, we face different challenges from other TV broadcasters, so we are always grateful to have the generous support of corporations and foundations like First Hawaiian," said PBS Hawai'i CEO Mike McCartney.


Catholic church receives $500

Smith Barney, a division of Citigroup, has donated $500 to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church corporal outreach program.


Maritime center nearly free of debt

Donations from private parties and foundations ensure that the Hawai'i Maritime Center, which opened in 1988 with a $2 million debt, will be debt-free by year's end, officials said.

Among the donors are Alexander & Baldwin President and CEO Allen Doane and Advertiser columnist Bob Krauss, who spearheaded the fund-raising campaign with Bishop Museum president Bill Brown.
