Man sought in Wahiawa stabbing death

By Dan Nakaso
Advertiser Staff Writer

Honolulu police detectives are looking for 39-year-old Kerry Sanders, aka "Al Capone," in connection with the fatal stabbing of Jonathan F. Nunes Thursday night in Wahiawa.

Kerry Sanders

Nunes, 32, of Mililani, was stabbed on California Avenue about 7 p.m. after getting into an argument. Nunes' girlfriend drove him to Wahiawa General Hospital, where he died.

Police said Sanders was identified leaving the scene of the stabbing. Sanders is described as African American, 5 feet 5, 140 pounds, with a medium build. Sanders has several arrests, according to police, including a 1990 arrest for suspicion of attempted murder. He was ultimately convicted of felony assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was released in 1993.

Police urge people not to approach Sanders. Instead, they should call Detective Ted Coons at 529-3053 or anonymously call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
