Punahou top seeds in state volleyball

Punahou's boys and girls were awarded top seeds for this week's Nissan State Volleyball Championships.
The boys tournament will be Wedneday through Saturday at Kamehameha Schools-Hawai'i campus on the Big Island.
The Waiakea boys were seeded No. 2, Kalaheo No. 3 and Hana No. 4.
The seeded teams receive first-round byes and will open play Thursday.
The eight other tournament teams will play in Wednesday's first round.
The girls tournament will be Wednesday through Saturday at King Kekaulike High School on Maui.
The Kahuku girls were seeded No. 2, Kamehameha-Maui is No. 3 and Kamehameha-Big Island will be No. 4.

Two 'Bows in final of Futures qualifying
The University of Hawai'i's Jarrod Diepraam and Bryan Weinberg advanced to the finals of the Hilton Waikoloa Village Futures qualifying round yesterday.
The pair will meet today for one of eight berths into the main draw.
Diepraam won by walkover when his opponent, Nathan Price, earned a spot in the main draw.
Weinberg beat Kevin Yamauchi, 6-1, 6-0.
SAILING
Rainbow Wahine 5th at PCIYRA event
The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sailing team finished fifth at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association Women's Fall Championships yesterday at Treasure Island, Calif.
Stanford won the nine-team event with a low-best score of 76. UC Irvine (96), UC Santa Barbara (110), USC (120) and Hawai'i (126) followed.
GOLF
Ordway captures HSWGA tournament
Kathy Ordway won the Hawai'i State Women's Golf Association Waikoloa tournament Saturday with a two-round net score of 143 at the Waikoloa Beach Golf Club.
Ordway, a 12 handicap, posted net scores of 79 and 88 on the Beach and Kings' golf courses, respectively.
Barbara Millslagle (six handicap) was second with a 145 and Aline Batungbacal (10) was third with a 147.
Millslagle had the lowest gross score with a 157.
