Police were called and located the suspect, who was also arrested for criminal property damage.

A bicyclist remained in critical condition at the Queen's Medical Center this morning with severe head injuries after being hit yesterday by a flatbed truck on Sand Island Access Road near Pahonui Drive.

Police investigators said a 35-year-old man driving a 1990 Dodge truck was heading toward Sand Island about 11:10 a.m. when he failed to stop for a red light and struck the bicyclist, 74, who was riding his bike through a marked crosswalk.

Investigators said the weather was clear and the traffic moderate at the time of the incident. They had not yet determined if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors.

Police said a patrol officer stopped the girl about 12:15 a.m. on Farrington Highway near Glenmonger Street for a traffic violation. A routine check of the car's license plate showed the car had been reported stolen and the driver was then arrested.

The girl was released to her parents pending further investigation.

The officer checked the home, found the driver and arrested him.
