Cast and crew of "North Shore" are learning to adjust to their first Hawaiian winter.

Last week's heavy rains forced cancellation of a night shoot at Ko Olina and the moving of a fashion-show scene from a Campbell Estates location to an indoor set.

Producer Harry Bring said exterior scenes will now be shot toward the beginning of each shooting schedule, to provide a rescheduling buffer in the event of bad weather ...

If the TV drama gets the go-ahead for three more episodes next month, producers expect to find out by Jan. 1 whether their show will return for another summer season. If the network decides to put the show on for fall 2005, word could come as late as May.

More film news: Last month, the "North Shore" crew moved aside during an important prep day at Yokohama Beach so the production team from the WB's "Rocky Point" could shoot a scene for its pilot episode. ...

Still no word on whether the WB will pick up "Rocky Point" for next year, according to executive producer Rick Dallago. ...

On ABC's "Lost," Harold Perrineau and Malcolm David Kelley play an estranged father and 9-year-old son learning how to connect. Off the set, Perrineau and Kelley are already fast friends and avid PlayStation rivals.

Kelley, 12, in Hawai'i with a guardian, plans to fly back to Los Angeles to be with his family for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Perrineau is a father in real life (of 10-year-old Aurora), but that didn't help him with his role as "Michael" on the show. "Our characters didn't really know each other at the beginning of the show," Perrineau said. "I had to try and forget how to be a dad" ...

Bring said he was disappointed that NBC pulled the plug on the cop drama "Hawaii." "We enjoyed having three series shooting here," he said. "It feels like we have our own film community here, just like L.A. has it's own community." Still, "North Shore," which had been looking for a replacement for its departed wardrobe director, snatched up the very briefly unemployed Kelli Jones in a blink.
