Bill Thibadeau, 83, active in public affairs on Big Island

HILO, Hawai'i — Bill Peter Thibadeau, retired president of Hilo Transportation & Terminal Co. and former chairman of the Big Island Tax Review Board, died Tuesday at his home in Hilo. He was 83.

Born in Spokane, Wash., Thibadeau was active in Big Island community affairs, and served as a member of the county Planning Commission and trustee and treasurer at the Lyman House Museum.

He also was a former member of the county Police Commission and Civil Service Commission and former chairman of the Salary Commission.

Thibadeau is survived by his wife, Maureen Supe Thibadeau; sons Bill Thibadeau II and Mark; daughter, Claudia "Dia" Bohannon; stepson, Darren Iwaoka; stepdaughter, Ronelle Hulama; sister, Diane Murray; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. today at Haili Church in Hilo; service is at 4. Aloha attire. No flowers.
