Rainbow Wahine sweep volleyball awards

The second-ranked University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team swept the Western Athletic Conference's three major postseason awards today.

Setter Kanoe Kamana'o was WAC Player of the Year, outside hitter Tara Hittle was WAC Freshman of the Year, and Dave Shoji was WAC Coach of the Year.

Hawai'i (23-0, 13-0) had seven players and Shoji on the postseason award list.

Outside hitter Alicia Arnott, Kamana'o and middle blocker Victoria Prince earned first-team honors. Outside hitter Susie Boogaard and libero Ashley Watanabe earned second-team honors.

Hittle and middle blocker Juliana Sanders earned all-freshman first-team honors.

The WAC Tournament begins Friday in Reno, Nev. Hawai'i will play eight-seeded SMU in the first match.
