UH men add shooting guard

Advertiser Staff

Matt Lojeski, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Eastern Wyoming College, has signed a national letter of intent to play for the University of Hawai'i in the 2005-06 season.

Lojeski had verbally committed earlier, but UH coaches could not comment until after they has received approval from the UH compliance office.

"He has good size and tremendous athletic ability," head coach Riley Wallace said.

"He's a slasher and has good ball-handling skills. He comes from a good program that is well-coached. We're not only getting a skilled basketball player, but most importantly, we're fortunate to be getting an all-round good student-athlete."

Last season, the Racine, Wis., native averaged nearly 17 points and six rebounds per game. He led the Lancers to the Region IX title.

Lojeski picked UH over future Western Athletic Conference foe Utah State. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at UH.

Lojeski joins 6-8 forward Ahmet Tidiane Gueye, who signed earlier this week.
