Tonight's Must-See
"The O.C.," 7 p.m., Fox. Last week's episode saw the guys returning to school, with their romances crumbled. Marissa was cool to Ryan and had dallied with the hunky gardener. Her friend Summer was mad at Seth and liked the only other member of his comic-book club. Now comes a complication: Ryan meets a bright, middle-income girl (played by Shannon Lucio) who brings a fresh eye to this upper-class world. Meanwhile, there are aftershocks to the arrest of Caleb, who is Kirsten's father and Marissa's stepfather. That means Julie Marissa's mom and Caleb's wife may get control of the business.
"Conversations with Carrie Fisher," 8 p.m., Oxygen. There's something both sad and compelling about singer Eddie Fisher. At 76, he looks weary and distracted. His daughter, Carrie, starts the interview by having him show the tracks on his arms, reflecting 38 years of drug addiction. Still, she also says this is a man of charm and fun. Their talk meanders through a life of great opportunities, taken and wasted.
Of Note
"Joey," 7 p.m., NBC. Joey is still upset because the show he turned down became a big hit. Now he fumes when he learns that his sister, nephew and landlord have a viewing party to watch it. Joey heads to his agent, played by Jennifer Coolidge.
"Will & Grace," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Trying to get Grace's mind off her failed marriage, Will plans a "no-Leo" road trip. Meanwhile, the gay cable network seeks a spokesman. Rip Taylor wants the job, but a former star, played by Victor Garber, intrigues Jack.
"The Apprentice," 8 p.m., NBC. Tonight's task involves coming up with an in-store jeans catalog.
"North Shore," 8 p.m., Fox. When the boss (Shannen Doherty) sends Tessa and Jason to a fancy affair, the others get jealous.
"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. A female murder victim has male body parts that are slashed. That leads to a look at the transgender scene. CBS plans to include a viewer-discretion notice.
"The Miracle Worker" (2000), 8 p.m., ABC Family. The third adaptation of William Gibson's play gets a cheery look from director Nadia Tass. There are excellent performances by Hallie Kate Eisenberg as the blind and deaf Helen Keller (previously played by Patty Duke and Melissa Gilbert) and by Alison Elliott as her steel-willed teacher, Anne Sullivan.
"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. Previously, Tony Goldwyn played twin suspects. Now a new case leaves police wondering if they jailed the wrong twin.
