Work progresses at Windward intersection
Work on Kalaniana'ole Highway at Castle Junction has turned from anti-erosion grading of the roadside slope to repaving of the roadway.
The highway's right town-bound lane will be closed periodically through Tuesday. Today, the right lane and right-turn lane onto Kamehameha Highway will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; tomorrow, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, from 6 a.m. to midnight. On Monday and Tuesday, the lane will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and again from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Right turns onto Kamehameha Highway can be made at the intersection.
The closures are needed to pave the right-turn lane that was cordoned off after last year's landslide, the state Department of Transportation said. For more details, call the DOT highway construction hot line at 587-6316.
