Man shot dead in 'Ewa Beach

A man was shot to death as he sat in his car yesterday afternoon in 'Ewa Beach.
Police said the man, identified only as in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene in the parking lot of 'Oneula Beach Park. His name was pending positive identification last night.
Police were called to the beach park shortly after 12:20 p.m. when witnesses said they heard gunshots. Arriving officers found the man dead in his white sedan.
The man who shot the victim may have fled in a maroon van, police said.
One man was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a car on Fort Weaver Road in 'Ewa Beach last night.
Two boys, ages 16 and 17, who were passengers in the car were injured and taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition. The driver of the car was not injured, police said.
The accident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on Fort Weaver Road near Parish Drive. Witnesses said the motorcycle was speeding when it slammed into a car that was making a turn.
The impact threw the motorcycle rider, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released last night, but he was described by Emergency Medical Services workers as being in his 30s.
Police closed Fort Weaver Road between Kilaha Street and Pohakupuna Road while they conducted their investigation.
HILO, Hawai'i A Neighborhood Watch report resulted in the arrest of 22-year-old Hilo man accused of robbing two visitors yesterday.
Robert Tysen Agres, charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and third-degree theft, was being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $15,500 bail. He was arrested about 5 a.m. yesterday after a member of the Pu'u'eo Neighborhood Watch reported a suspicious vehicle in the area.
Patrol officers who responded to the call determined that Agres allegedly stole a fishing pole from a pickup truck and was a suspect in the robbery of a North Carolina couple at a Pu'u'eo apartment complex. The couple had reported that an intruder armed with a pipe kicked in the door of their apartment and demanded money.
Police have opened a case on behalf of a 79-year-old Kaimuki man who said he awoke from a nap about 3 p.m. Thursday and found an intruder in his home.
The man told police the stranger tied him up, blindfolded and gagged him before rummaging through the man's house. It was later determined that cash and jewelry had been taken from the home.
Police classified the case as a first-degree robbery and kidnapping.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of forgery Thursday after allegedly trying to cash a $1,500 check at a Waikiki bank.
Police said the man went to the bank about 12:15 p.m. and handed over the check to a teller who thought it looked odd and contacted a supervisor.
The supervisor determined that the account had been closed and contacted the account holder, who denied writing any checks to the man who was attempting to cash it.
Police were called to the bank and the man was arrested.
A 43-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after someone fired two shots into the ground next to the Waialua District Park gymnasium.
A city parks worker heard gunshots about 7:45 p.m. and called police who found a man at a nearby gas station who matched the description of the alleged gunman. Police searched the man and found a .22-caliber, Beretta semi-automatic pistol and a box of ammunition.
The man, who police said was intoxicated, was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangering, not properly storing a firearm and possession of an unregistered handgun. He was also arrested on a contempt of court warrant. No one was injured in the incident.
