McLachlin falls back in PGA qualifying

Hawai'i's Parker McLachlin shot a 2-over 74 yesterday and was tied with 20 other golfers for 61st place heading into today's final round of a PGA Qualifying School Second Stage Tournament at Seaside, Calif.
McLachlin, a Punahou School and UCLA alum, is at 220 after 54 holes. Mark Wilson of Chicago shot a 68 and leads at 205. There are 20 players at 213 or better.
The top 20 finishers will join qualifiers from five other second stage sites at the Final Stage Qualifying Dec. 1 to 6 at La Quinta, Calif.
At a second stage tourney in Beaumont, Calif., former Hawai'i resident Scott Simpson shot a 1-over 73 for a 210 total and is tied with 10 others for 25th place.
Warren Schutte, of Anthem, Ariz., leads at 69202, with 22 players at 208 or better.
Top seeds play for Kailua doubles title
Top seeds Jing Jing Liu and Amy Sun will play No. 2 seeds Tetyana Bula and Adrienne Hegedus today in the final of the Kailua Women's Night Doubles at the Kailua Racquet Club.
The title match will be played after the 6 p.m. third-place match.
Liu and Sun beat Dragica Jokisimovic and Tina Klep, 6-2, 6-3, and Bula and Hegedus defeated Shana Peete and Mimi Kennell, 6-0, 6-2, in last night's semifinals.
Eighth-seeded Alex Kuznetsov ousted top-seeded Vladimir Pavicevic, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-1, yesterday in the Honolulu Futures Tournament at the Diamond Head courts.
Kuznetsov will meet Wayne Odesnik and Fritz Wolmarans will play Brendan Evans in today's semifinals.
BYUH advances to fifth-place match
Brigham Young-Hawai'i beat Air Force and Pomona-Pitzer in the consolation bracket of the Western Water Polo Association playoffs at Davis, Calif.
Vanja Kalabic scored three goals as BYUH beat Air Force, 11-9, while 10 Seasiders scored in an 11-4 trouncing of Pomona-Pitzer.
UH sweeps past visiting Pacific
The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swimming and diving teams beat the University of Pacific last night at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
The Rainbow Warriors (7-0) defeated the Tigers, 197-89, while the Rainbow Wahine (8-1) won, 175-118.
