Waihee check handed over, friend reports

Bank of Hawaii's foreclosure case against the Nu'uanu home of former Gov. John Waihee and his wife, Lynn, is over, Waihee's friend David Wilson said yesterday.
Waihee could not be reached for comment, but Wilson of McNeil Wilson Communications said the former governor gave the bank a cashier's check yesterday. Wilson said he did not know the amount of the check.
The bank earlier this month filed the foreclosure lawsuit on the Kahawalu Drive home, contending that the Waihees owed $779,292 on a first mortgage and $49,306 on a second mortgage.
A bank spokeswoman said yesterday that the bank's policy is not to discuss relationships with customers.
