ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
KSSK going to all-holiday tunes beginning today

Advertiser Staff

It will sound a whole lot like Christmas, starting this morning, on KSSK, Hawai'i's No. 1 radio station. For the holiday season through Christmas Day, KSSK (92.3 FM, 590 AM) will table its adult contemporary format to program only Christmas and holiday favorites. Expect to hear them all, from "White Christmas" to "Mele Kalikimaka," from "Jingle Bell Rock" to "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," from "O Holy Night" to "The Christmas Song." Island and traditional versions will be aired.

Students don't take care of themselves

Think college students are at the peak of health? In fact, most aren't as fit as when they started their higher education.

More juniors report exercising less than the same students did their freshman year. And more report increases in depression, alcohol consumption and stress.

A survey of 3,680 students by UCLA's Higher Education Research Institute has been tracking student well-being at 46 colleges, reporting these results.

The good news? Religiously inclined students seem to see improved mental and emotional health. Those who don't attend religious services are more than twice as likely to report feeling depressed.

FINAL WORD

Actor Woody Harrelson, about living on Maui with his wife and two daughters in a solar-powered community:

"It's Shangri-La. I take my breakfast off the trees. I hang out with my kids and get in the ocean every day."
