New OHA board to take office Wednesday

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs board of trustees has re-elected Haunani Apoliona to the board chair and tapped other leaders, all to take office in an investiture ceremony set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kawaiaha'o Church.
John Waihe'e IV is the board's vice chairman. Colette Machado has reclaimed the chair of the Beneficiary Advocacy and Empowerment Committee, with Boyd Mossman as vice chair. Oswald Stender and Dante Carpenter have traded positions in the Asset and Resource Management Committee, with Carpenter now assuming the chair and Stender tapped as vice chair.
The board's next series of meetings is set for the following week on Maui. Community open forums, to gather voters' general concerns, are set for 6 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Hana Community Center and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Lahaina Civic Center. The board of trustees will hold its regular meeting at 11 a.m. Dec. 9 at Maui Community College's student center lounge.
The most pressing items on the trustees' agenda approving a budget and a legislative package will be heard at 10 a.m. Dec. 16 in the trustees' Honolulu board room.
